That necessitated using an international 88-key model with a Return key the same shape as that used on later Amiga models. Moving Esc next to 1 meant that tilde ( ~) had to be relocated. Modifier keys spelled out ( Alternate instead of Alt). The main inspiration for the layout was the Atari ST, with the color scheme is inspired by the ST Book. And the lower right cluster of modifier keys now consists of Meta, Alt Graph, Compose and Control (familiar to SPARCstation users).Ĭosmetic changes include the typeface ( Chloe Sans), the justification of the legends on the function keys (to match Chloe Corp’s other keyboard design), the main key color (to off-white, because bright white did not age well over five years) and adding a printed logo to the case. Alternate PC legends have been added to the F13 to F15 keys. These went from being BASIC keywords, to standard PC keys, to the current layout. The keys that have changed the most since the first prototype was assembled six years are the cluster above the cursors. So instead the starting point was an off-the-shelf ten-keyless (no number pad) layout with custom-printed key caps that can be produced to order, one unit at a time. And in an effort to broaden its appeal, it has gone for a UNIX ten-keyless layout.īecause the 280SE is such a niche machine, a fully custom keyboard was never going to be a cost effective solution. Chloe Corp has finalized the keyboard design for the Chloe 280SE, a Z80-compatible FPGA computer.
